The City of Akron's Lock 3 amphitheater opens its 10th anniversary season with its first Rock the Lock concert May 25. The familiar downtown venue that has hosted 1.6 million people since its opening in 2003 has announced a 2012 season with more than 30 concert nights, five festival weekends, and 35 community fund-raising events.
"We are pleased to provide our residents and visitors with a summer full of music and affordable fun," says Mayor Don Plusquellic. "This ten-year tradition has made family-friendly entertainment available to everyone in our community."
Again this year, Lock 3 will offer fifteen free Friday Night "Rock the Lock" concerts with thirty different musical acts sponsored by WONE, and twelve Lock 3 Live! Saturday concerts featuring nine musicians on national tours.
Gates open for all concerts at 6 pm. The Local band Showcase starts at 7 pm each night, with headliners at 8:30 pm.
