Old School Soul featuring Morris Day and The Time

Born in Minneapolis, Day had a flair for fashion. Inspired by photographs of his grandpa in zoot suits, a true fashionista was formed! Day went to school with Prince Rogers Nelson and sang in Prince's first band Grand Central. Prince grew as an artist and so did the opportunity around him. The Time was originally created as Prince's alter-ego to be seen as the cool, street-wise funk band contrasting Prince's more soulful R&B sound. After looking at several lead vocalists, Prince wanted someone with mad talent so he cast his high school friend-- the funky, the fabulous Morris Day. Soon after, Morris Day and the Time were cast in Purple Rain which captured the exploding Minneapolis music scene at its peak.

Morris Day burst onto the public scene with the group's self-titled album, The Time, which included "Get It Up," "Cool," and "Girl." Soon after the world was introduced the prolific Minneapolis music marvel, the group went on to record three more albums, including What Time Is It? (featuring the hits "777-9311," "Wild and Loose," "Walk," and "Gigolos Get Lonely Too") and Ice Cream Castle, (which included the hit "Jungle Love"). After three albums Morris Day launched his solo career, releasing three albums: The Color of Success, Daydreaming, and Guaranteed. Combined sales of Morris Day's solo work and The Time is in excess of 10 million units.

"It was such an innocent time," Day reminisces. "We were just doing our thing, talking the way we talked and dressing the way we dressed. Bringing our personalities to the record. It was us being us. I'm proud of where I came from musically and the things we've done.

Arlo Guthrie – Guthrie Family Reunion

Arlo Guthrie's career exploded in 1967 with the release of "Alice's Restaurant", whose title song premiered at the Newport Folk Festival helped foster a new commitment among the '60s generation to social consciousness and activism. Arlo went on to star in the 1969 Hollywood film version of "Alice's Restaurant", directed by Arthur Penn.
With songs like "Alice's Restaurant", too long for radio airplay; "Coming into Los Angeles", banned from many radio stations (but a favorite at the 1969 Woodstock Festival); and the definitive rendition of Steve Goodman's "City of New Orleans", Guthrie was no One-Hit-Wonder. An artist of international stature, he has never had a 'hit' in the usual sense. He has usually preferred to walk to his own beat rather than march in step to the drum of popular culture.
Over the last four decades Guthrie has toured throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia winning a wide, popular following. In addition to his accomplishments as a musician, playing the piano, six and twelve-string guitar, harmonica and a dozen other instruments, Arlo is a natural-born storyteller, whose tales and anecdotes figure prominently in his performances.

Lock 3 will also be celebrating the Towpath Trail through Summit County.

Bruce in the USA, The World's #1 Tribute to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

Bruce In The USA is much more than just another tribute...This high-energy musical experience is a note-perfect and visually accurate recreation of a Bruce Springsteen & The E St. Band show.
Matt Ryan, from the World Famous "Legends In Concert" cast, began playing the Springsteen character in 2000, in the Legends "full scale" Las Vegas show. The great success with "Legends" evolved his character into the Bruce In The USA show.

The band consists of seasoned world class professional musicians, from such acts/bands as Queen/Paul Rogers, Meatloaf, Blue Oyster Cult, Hall and Oats, Joe Cocker, The Ojays, Aretha Franklin, David Cassidy, The Temptations, Slash... and so many more. This high end, powerhouse, band has taken this genre of performance art to a whole new level, making it the World's #1 Tribute to the E Street Band's musical legacy.

The Bruce In The USA show was born on the Las Vegas Strip in the winter of 2004, with its debut at the Aladdin Hotel and Casino's majestic "V Theatre". The show assaulted the senses in a fun-filled and exciting party atmosphere on the Vegas Strip, while suspending disbelief for even the toughest skeptics. They've been met with critical acclaim, from the Stone Pony, Asbury Park, to large theatres, and Performance Art Centers across the country.crowds are on their feet from the first song to the last.

Smooth Jazz featuring Pieces of a Dream

In the world of jazz, commodities are fleeting. Styles come and go. Artists at the top of this week's charts could be history by the end of next month. Words like "staying power" and "longevity" are for anyone or anything that sticks around for more than a couple years.

But then there are those rare few, gifted with the right stuff, who hang in for the long haul - musical collectives that continue to explore and evolve album after album, year after year, decade after decade, eschewing fashion and fad and reaching instead for something much more permanent. This is the story of Pieces of a Dream, a contemporary jazz band that opens the next chapter in a career that spans more than three decades.

Mr. Speed, A Tribute to KISS

In a world where imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, few bands have as devoted a following as KISS. With 16 years of experience under their spandex MR. SPEED continues to forge ahead writing their own chapter in KISSstory. Many tribute bands fall short when it comes to delivering what KISS fans expect. MR. SPEED refuses to make such a claim. Their focus is clear and has been since day one...to give the KISS fans their very best. We never settle for mediocrity. Every show is another opportunity to prove to ourselves and to KISS fans everywhere that paying tribute is showing the ultimate in respect.

The show combines a lot of the elements that are reminiscent of a KISS performance. A lighted KISS logo illuminates the backline of endless Marshall speaker cabinets. The costumes replicate the '76'-'77' era of KISS' career, a time when lips everywhere were coming together in unison to welcome the #1 band in America. The set list includes everything from KISS' career that you would expect to hear. Plus a smattering of songs that they feel deserve to be heard as well.

The Machine performs Pink Floyd

The Machine, America's top Pink Floyd show, has forged a 20 year reputation of excellence, extending the legacy of Pink Floyd, while creating another legacy all their own. Over the years, The Machine has touched the hearts and souls of many, selling out theaters, large clubs and casinos across North and Central America, Europe and Asia. They have also appeared at renowned music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Riverbend, Gathering of the Vibes, Buffalo's Artpark, and Germany's Rock of Ages. The New York based band focuses on making every show an authentic Floydian experience for their fans. Known for performing a diverse mix of The Floyd's extensive 16-album repertoire (complete with faithful renditions of popular hits as well as obscure gems), The Machine's stellar musicianship, dramatic lighting and video, and their passionate delivery sets them above and beyond the rest. In the classic tradition, The Machine explores collective improvisation paralleling and even rivaling that of an early 1970's Pink Floyd mentality. Their use of expanded theatrical elements and elaborate stage displays continues in the spirit of the later Floyd lineups of the 1980's. The band is also known for recreating entire albums as a part of their show, accepting requests from fans, and for taking an A to Z approach in which one song is played for every letter of the alphabet. Additionally, the quartet has been sharing the stage with full symphony orchestras, including the Atlanta, Detroit, Pittsburgh and San Diego Symphonies.

Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone

Peter Noone is a multi-talented entertainer, who has been delighting audiences nearly all his life. At the age of fifteen, Peter achieved international fame as "Herman", lead singer of the legendary Sixties pop band Herman's Hermits. His classic hits included: "I'm Into Something Good" "Mrs. Brown, you've Got A Lovely Daughter", "I'm Henry VIII, I Am", "Silhouettes", "Can't You Hear My Heartbeat", "Just A Little Bit Better", "Wonderful World", "There's A Kind of Hush", "A Must To Avoid", "Listen People", "The End of the World" and "Dandy". Ultimately, Herman's Hermits sold over sixty million recordings.

For four years, Noone served as the winsome host of VH1's My Generation, the highest-ever-rated half hour retrospective of popular music. He also hosted the informative PBS Special The British Invasion Returns and recorded the title song for the Kirk Douglas film Diamonds. Accompanied by his band, Herman's Hermits, Noone consistently plays to sold-out venues the world over. He has a legion of faithful fans (known as "Noonatics") whose loyalty is unparalleled. Today's teen girls scream just as passionately as their mothers did back in 1965, prompting VH1 to select Peter as their viewer's choice for the "Sexiest Artist of the Year".
